This site is here for private landlords to provide details of property to let so that
prospective tenants can see more details about property that is available.

So who is LettingsDirect.com?
|
LettingsDirect.com ltd is a private company which manages a small portfolio
of privately owned and managed residential property in the West Sussex and
South Hampshire area. Since we prefer to manage the properties ourselves,
we don't arrange lettings through an estate agent.

Can other people advertise on the site?
|
Yes, for other private landlords who like to do their own management and lettings it
makes sense to advertise property on this site rather than each of us setting up our
own private site, each of them too small for tenants to consider worth visiting.

What areas does it cover?
|
To make it work, you need - and the prospective tenant needs - a telephone and internet access.
So if you operate in a part of the world which has telephones and the internet, then you are
in an area covered by this site.

What does that cost?
|
A nominal contribution: £5, if you provide the details all prepared and ready to be
uploaded.
If you can't do that and want us to convert it into a webpage, just send
(post, fax or email) the details and we can easily do that for you
(in which case the price goes up to £25: hardly a fortune!)
Yes, these prices are very low, but the intention is just to cover costs and to
build up a site which is well used, not to make a profit from running it.
And of course once you've assembled the details once, they can be very quickly reposted
the next time you want to relet the property.

But does it work?

Yes it does for us, and it can for you, provided you don't assume that you
can find a tenant by advertising only on the internet; it needs more than that.
Consider what estate agents do. They put up a board on the property
(to catch people looking within a particular area) and they put brief details
in the local property papers. They then prepare more detailed and illustrated
particulars to show to people who have expressed interest.
This works the same way, except you put the detailed particulars with any photographs,
plans or maps you want to use, on the website.
You put up a board on the property which refers people to the details
you have posted on this website (and the board will have your own phone number if you
like) and you can - if you like - also put brief details in a newspaper advertisement,
again with this website but your own phone number. People who might be interested will then
either ring you or look here for more details and then you arrange the viewings and the
letting in the normal way.
